HISTORY OF THE ALLINDIA REINFORCED PLASTIC
MOULDERS ASSOCIATION
AIRPMA owes its existence to the Naptha crisis of 1972 which
plunged the Indian Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Industry
into a deep unprecedented crisis.
Chemical Process Equipment P. Ltd. Mumbai India advertised
in the local Bombay paper, inviting other concerned moulders
to a meeting at the Ritz Hotel Bombay-India to discuss the
problem, and AIRPMA was born with eight founder members! Formed
primarily as a service institution, to promote the consumption
of FRP in India, it continues to be active.
The
Association makes representations to the Government on various points like Central
Excise, it clarifies Categorization of products, and tries to achieve uniformity
of Excise rates. It also takes up any problems faced by moulders vis-a-vis Government
Duties and regulations Since the prices of raw materials in the country rose to
the point where they are approx. 30-35% higher than that of foreign products,
the Association even arranges for the import of the raw matenais. The

and development in FRP, and can thus confidently take their place in the worldwide
FRP market.
The 32 year old ALL INDIA REINFORCED PLASTIC MOULDERS' ASSOCIATION
